Alison Hawkins RGN BSc (Hons)
Nurse Practitioner - Based at Hanham Surgery
Alison been qualified as a registered general nurse since 1982 and has worked at Hanham Surgery for the last 15 years. She started working in the treatment room then gradually increased her role to work as one of the practice nurses, completing diplomas in asthma and diabetes. In 2005 she became a qualified Nurse Practitioner after gaining a degree in Primary Care from South Bank University. In 2007 Alison became a qualified nurse prescriber and now enjoys her role at Hanham as one of the Nurse Practitioners.
Nicola Bebb RGN BSc (Hons)
Nurse Practitioner - Based at Hanham Surgery
Nicola joined Hanham Surgery as a Nurse Practitioner in 2004. Her career prior to coming to Hanham was predominately in Accident and Emergency and latterly she was a lecturer practitioner, running courses for nurse practitioners at Kings college London, whilst working clinically as a nurse practitioner in the emergency department of St Thomas’ hospital London and the Minor injuries unit at Guys.
She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1987 and as a Nurse Practitioner in 1999, after completing a Health Studies Degree at the Royal College of Nursing in London. She became a qualified nurse prescriber in 2006.
Specialising in minor health and minor injury care, she enjoys the variety of general practice, the continuity of care and the diversity that this role offers.
Helen Altimas
Nurse Practitioner - Based at Oldland Surgery
Helen started nursing in 1978 qualifying at Northampton General Hospital. Since then she has worked in a wide variety of roles including A&E, Surgery and Orthopaedics. She also holds qualifications in teaching and counselling.
She started word as a Nurse Practitioner in 2005 recently joining Oldland Surgery after moving to the area from Derbyshire. To enable her to work as a Nurse Practitioner seeing, treating and prescribing for patients with minor illness, she has undertaken prescribing qualifications and assessment and diagnostic skills training at Masters level. Helen believes her role as a Nurse Practitioner in minor illness allows patients greater access to the service and helps support the GP’s in their role.

Alison Taylor
Nurse Practitioner - Based at Oldland Surgery
Alison trained in Bristol and qualified in 1976 as a General and Children’s Nurse. She has had a varied career spanning 3 decades. Her main area of expertise has been Accident and Emergency and latterly Practice Nursing. A course of advanced study led to the current role of Nurse Practitioner. She qualified as a Nurse Prescriber in 2006. Alison joined Oldland Surgery in January 2007, setting up and running the minor illness and telephone consultation clinics.
