Cath is the Managing Partner and has been with for Hanham Surgery for 11 years. She came from a management background in industry and now is a highly experienced healthcare manager. It is Cath’s responsibility to develop the practice in line with government guidelines and local needs and expectations. She has overall responsibility for all aspects of the practice management and patient services. She will respond to any comments, concerns or suggestions for change.
Her qualifications include a BA Hons in Psychology, and HNDs in Business Studies and Computer Studies. She also worked as a Relate Counsellor for many years. From April 2000 - March 2005, she was Chair of the South Gloucestershire Practice Managers’ Forum and the Practice Manager Representative on the South Gloucestershire PEC and the Primary Care Development Group.
Cath has 17 years experience working within the NHS, all of which have been at management and strategic development level, and include:
- Business planning and strategic development consultancy
- HR, staff management and employment law
- Finance, accounting, contract negotiation
- Broad and detailed understanding of the GP contract
- Development of computer systems and use of IT
- Chairing a variety of meetings and professional forums
- Teaching and training for PCTs, UWE, NPDT, practices
- Recruitment consultancy
As well as her practice work Cath is very involved in the development of the healthcare services at the two local prisons where Hanham Surgery provide the primary care. She is also the Commercial Director of GP Care – a Bristol based partnership of 89 GP practices providing enhanced primary healthcare services to patients in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset area.
