Home Visits
Home visits are for the housebound, and for people who are too poorly to come to the surgery. This is because 3 - 4 patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to complete 1 home visit. Home visits are at the discretion of the doctor who may wish to speak to you before they agree to visit. The receptionist may take some brief details in order for the doctor to assess the urgency of each case.
Please telephone before 11:00 if you wish to book a Home visit.
Telephone Advice
Some problems can be dealt with over the telephone. If you need medical advice and feel you do not need to visit the surgery, please telephone before 11:00 am and the receptionist will arrange for an appropriate clinician to call you back. The receptionist may take some details from you so that the doctor can assess the urgency of your query.
The Role of Nurse Practitioners
Nurse Practitioners are experienced nurses who have furthered their studies at University. They are able to diagnose, prescribe medications and refer cases to hospital.
We have 3 Nurse Practitioners at Hanham Health who run their own surgeries on a daily basis. They can be booked in the same way you would book an appointment with a Doctor.
